Photos and Information about the Franklin River Reserve in South Gippsland
This spacious parkland is located on the South Gippsland Highway between Foster and Welshpool on the left hand side of the road if you’re traveling north. There is a large grassed area with shelter, picnic tables and bins at the front of the reserve and down the side road you can find more picnic tables and a fairly clean toilet block. BBQ’s are available in both areas and firewood is supplied. No BBQ’s allowed during fires restriction periods though.
The front parkland is more for people who want to stop and have a comfortable and very pleasant picnic. It’s suitable for children to play under the shelter of the large shade trees, willow trees and gum trees and dogs are free to roam there as well. You can also take a short walk down to the river on a nice grassy track.
The back parkland has direct river access and you can park quite close to the bank. It can get a little muddy when it rains but there are plenty of gum trees for shelter when it’s sunny.
