Foster Primary School Kitchen Garden
Photographs, Information And Map Of Foster Primary School
Kitchen Garden Program – Foster Primary School was one of the first schools in Australia to adopt the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program which at the end of 2008 numbered 23 participating schools.
Many thanks must go to the Education Department, the principal, staff, teachers and parents who volunteer to be involved in the activities and the Victorian State Governement which provides funding to each school accepted into the program.
I have personally witnessed the transformation of students and heard stories of many others who have become inspired by the growing, preparing and eating of the fresh, healthy produce.
Even prior to the program, the school at Foster had an energetic and passionate permaculture enthusiast who created the foundation for the productive garden at Foster Primary School that we see today, so a special mention must be made to Juneen Schulz for the tremendous effort and dedication she demonstrated even before the program started.
Because of this, Foster Primary School has one of the most well established gardens of any school in the country – see photographs and map below.
